The Maid of Orleans (2012)
A devised production of the story of St. Joan of Arc, born in 1412 and martyred in 1431. Nicknamed “The Maid of Orleans” by those who loved and hated her, Joan lead the French army in battle against the English and Burgundians in an effort to free her country from English rule.
Captured by the English and put on trial for heresy, witchcraft, and dressing as a man, she was found guilty and sentenced to death by burning. Joan’s claims to have spoken with the saints and God were later used as “evidence” of her slander against God, country, and the Church. Today, she is hailed as a Saint, a Martyr, and an amazing and independent young woman who followed her faith and her heart.
