Charles Manson, Gardener of the Haight, tended to the Flower Children. In a time of free love, why was war their first, last, and only hope? In the shadow of the murders of 1969, Charlie’s Girls explores the space in which the impressionable prey becomes the merciless predator.

Kentucky foundation for women,
we are able to remount
“Charlie’s Girls” in 2026.
This story, of a man deluding women to their own detriment, promising salvation and love in exchange for blind loyalty, remains prescient a decade after we originally mounted this show, and more than 60 years after the Manson cult found fame.
